The African milk tree (Euphorbia trigona) is a succulent plant that's native to Central Africa. It's also known by the nicknames candelabra cactus, cathedral cactus, friendship cactus, and good luck cactus. The African milk tree is easy to look after, pest resistant, and a fast grower. It's often grown as a hedge due to its rapid and enthusiastic growth.

Here are some tips for caring for an African milk tree:
  • Watering
Evenly water the top layer of soil and let it soak down, pour away any excess water. Increase watering in the summer while the plant is actively growing, check soil moisture once a week. In winter, only water once the top 1 inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
  • Sun exposure
Acclimate indoor plants to the sun by exposing them to it gradually for 2 weeks. Start out placing them in the shade, then place them in the sun for a few hours a day until they have adjusted to the direct sun exposure. Try to plant them in a heavy container.

Size: ~12-15" tall and a 6" pot.

Sunlight: Bright, indirect to direct light.

Watering frequency: Once a month

For pet owners: Not pet friendly
